Favourite Songs Of 2012 So Far...

So March is now over which means that we are a 1/4 of the way through 2012. Three months of great new music. I asked radio DJs, bloggers and more about what music they've been loving so far this year.

Former Editor of Q Magazine Paul Rees: "Bruce Springsteen, Shackled And Drawn, sir. Why? Took a man in his 60s to tell it like it is. Great song, too."

British rock band Reverend & The Makers: "Murder by Janice Graham Band. Cos it's real n not X Factor"

Q Magazine Staffer Joe Bishop: "Climax by Usher, because you think it's going to go all epic like every other song, but it doesn't, it keeps it subtle. It's special"

Music Journalist at Q Magazine Al Horner: "I'd have to say Japandroids' House That Heaven Built, on account of its amazing lads-on-tour pop-punk bolshiness."

Review Editor of Q Magazine Niall Doherty - "The Maccabees' Pelican & Jack White's Freedom At 21, cos they're both ruddy ace"

Singer/Songwriter Nina Nesbitt - "Wicked Games by The Weeknd it's just so so so good"

Blogger and DJ Ollie Russian: "Feel The Love by Rudimental ft John Newman. It's HUGE"

Associate Editor of Q Magazine Paul Stokes - "Possibly Django Django's Hail Bop because it's so joyous"

Electro duo Gospel - "Be Strong by 2 Bears! Everything that's great about music right now"

Music Lover Jamie Harris "Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift ft. The Civil Wars because it's remarkably different to the usual cheesy country/pop stuff she usually does, which is a step in the right direction. Also I recently heard the civil wars album and think they're a great new act :)"

Music journalist Lewis Donovan - Wax by Theme Park, because it's the perfect soundtrack for lazing in the sun... or for making out

Features Associate Editor of Q Magazine Chris Catchpole -
"That's Alright by Kindness. No question because it sounds like a Janet Jackson song from the early '90s"

Music Lover Kirsty Kelly - "That dangerous age, he [Paul Weller] sounds beautiful in it!"

Blogger Kit Brown -  Wish It Was True by The White Buffalo - "Jake has a great voice, the song is awesome and it just rips you apart."

World famous music website Popjustice - Starships by Nicki Minaj because "it is amazing".

Blogger Claire Evans - Bruce Springsteen - Shackled and Drawn. "Why? Because it's Bruce Springsteen. Raw talent and a brilliant song."

Music Lover Christopher Leathley ‏had many suggestions as to his favourite song of the year so far:
Ode to Sad Disco by Mark Lanegan
Low Times by School of Seven Bells
Leonard by Sharon Van Etten
Dread Sovereign by Shearwater
Dead City by The Twilight Sad
"No better reason for liking them all than the fact that they are all damn good songs!"

Music Lover Tom. K - R U Mine? by Arctic Monkeys

Music Lover Lissie Wetts from Belgium
"I'd have to go for Tattoo - Van Halen.. (the only song I can recall being released during the last 3 months, within my music taste)"

Music Lover Yasmyn Charles - "I'll go with... Beach House's Myth as it's one of the few songs i can think of haha. Love a good bit of eerie dream-pop"

Legendary Radio 1 DJ Annie Nightingale -  "Ill Manors by Plan B, Prodigy Mix, think it speaks for itself"

Music Lover Greg Stewart - "I've always listened to feel to follow by the maccabees lately because it's pretty powerful at the end and it's just a beautiful song"

Birmingham-based band The Mutineers - Back Of Your Neck by Howler

Music Lover David Barwise - "I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz - a song which just builds and builds accompanied by great vocals"

Blogger Linn Branson - TOY - Left Myself Behind "it is quite possibly the best track, of its genre, I have ever heard"

Music Lover Tom Hooper - "Somebody that I used to know by Gotye, A sweeping song with compelling lyrics and Sting-esque singing in the chorus. The spare yet elegant backing is perfect. The best song you'll hear this side of summer.
Also music lover Hannah Barry choose the same song saying "probably because it reminds me of someone"

My favourite music for you to check out from the last three months:
The Maccabees - Intro/ Child Mesmerising opening track from career-best album
Enter Shikari - Pack of Thieves Anthemic album track from St Albans finest
The Shins - Simple Song Sensational pop song with everything but the kitchen sink production.
Plan B - iLL Manors A return to his hip-hop roots with extremely relevant lyrics
Paul Weller - By The Waters Laid back and poetic Weller tune, reminiscent of The Jam's English Rose and The Style Council's A Stone's Throw Away
Jack White - Love Interruption Dusty Springfield sounding intro sets the tone for fantastic solo debut single
Ben Howard - Oats In The Water Phenomenal new song shows a darker side to cheery folk singer
Hamilton - Rich Kids Mental sounding d'n'b track will blow your socks off!
Benga - I Will Never Change Breathtaking piece of dubstep from new Radio 1 DJ
& Many More!
